San Francisco de Campeche, also known as just “Campeche” is located in the state of Campeche, Meksyk, on the Bay of Campeche of the Gulf of Meksyk. Campeche serves as the Capital of the state of Campeche and has a population of over 200,000 people. The city has earned the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its preservation and the quality of the architecture. The city has retained most of the wall fortifications built to defend it from the pirates of the Carribbean.
