Uxmal is an ancient Mayan city located 38 miles south of Merida, the capital city of the state of Yucatan, Messico. It lasted for almost a century as a Maya city after the occupation of the Spanish. It is beautifully preserved and very popular with tourists.There are three famous structures at the site. El Castillo, the Temple of the Frescoes, and the Temple of the Descending God.
Sian Ka’an is a biosphere reserve in the town of Tulum, Quintana Roo, Messico. It became a UNESCO patrimonio dell'umanità in 1987. Part of the reserve is on land and part is in the Caribbean Sea, including a section of coral reef. The reserve offers protection for the endangered species in the Riviera Maya and provides environmental education to the local communities to assist and train the residents working with ecotourism.

Calakmul is located in the state of Campeche in southeastern Mexico about 22 miles north of the Guatamalan border. It is a Maya archeological site discovered deep in the jungles of the Peten Basin region. The name was given the site by its discoverer, Cyrus L. Cuzama Celestun is a town located in the northwest corner of Yucatan State, Messico, on the Gulf of Mexico coast. The town is part of Celestun Biosphere Reserve which is a wetland reserve that is the migratory home for flocks of flamingos, herons and more than 200 other bird species that pass through or reside permanently there. It is also refuge for endangered sea turtle hatchlings. Celestun is popular for its beaches and abundant wildlife.
Sierra de San Pedro Martir National Park is located on the northern part of the Cordillera Baja California Mountain Range called the Sierra de San Pedro Martir. The park is located in Baja California Sur, Messico. It protects one of the few pine tree forests on the Baja California Peninsula. The park also protects habitats for the Bighorn Sheep as well as the California Condor. Messico’s largest optical telescope is located at the National Astronomical Observatory on the nearby peak of Cerro del la Cupula.
