San Cristobal de las Casas is located in the central highlands of Chapas, Mexico. It has been designated a “Pueblo Magico” (Magical Village) in 2003 and is considered the cultural capital of Chapas. The city attracts tourists with its native populations and numerous festivals and charming cobblestone streets. A large number of tourists have settled in San Cristobal which has expanded the local culture and added Italian, French, Thai, Indian and Chinese restaurants.
Tilaco is one site of the Sierra Gorda Missions located in the central Mexican state of Queretaro. It was built by the Franciscan missionary Junipero Sierra circa 1750 and is noted for its colorful facades and stonework. They were named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003.
